Confused!!

Hi,

I am planning on doing a tour from Kathmandu to Lhasa and have a few questions:

1) How much are these type of tours, say 8 nights, booked through a travel agent in Kathmandu? Does this also include a visa etc?

2) Is it possible for me to stay in Lhasa once I get there based on the type of visa issues. If its a group Visa, then will I need to get another visa to stay in Lhasa longer before heading back to kathmandu?

3) I am planning on doing this in early to mid November - is this still possible? Do tours still run at this time?

I have done a search but am a bit confused!

Thanks,
Mich

1) it depends on the tour you want : budget, in 4WD or bus, with or without lodging and food... Generally, it includes the tibetan permit.
2) if you have a chinese visa, no problem to stay in Lhasa and the surroundings
3) it will just be very cold. Don't forget that the average elevation is about 4.200 meters...

1. Agree...it is going to depend on what type of tour you want. About the cheapest they run is around $425 per person.

2. Yes, you can stay in Lhasa with a group visa.

3. 4WD's run all year long between the Nepal border and Lhasa. The road is rarely closed. The weather will be a little cold in the higher elevations places (above 4000m) in mid-November, but not too bad at places below 4000m.
