Tibet Permit, 4wd Lhasa - Kashgar

1)Hi, the Lonely Planet book I have says it is necessary or much easier to get a permit for Tibet if travelling in a group. Has this eased up these days or will I have to organise a tour group before I enter Tibet?
2)Can anybody suggest a good 4wd tour company for the road between Lhasa and Kashgar (the southern road via Ali) in either direction? I am considering making this trip in September if anyone else is interested to make up numbers.

Only neccessary if entering from Nepal.

We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.

Hi,

Im planning a trip with a friend which should end somewhere around delhi and starts in dushanbe / tajikistan in september.
Actually i wanted to go down the karakoram highway to pakistan but the political situtation in hunza valley is extremely unstable and so im thinking about going from kashgar to lhasa as well.

if you'd like to share a jeep that would be great, but i dont know exactly when we are going to arrive in kashgar since passing the borders from kyrgystan to china seems to be terribly unpredictable.

Do you have any information how long it takes from kashgar to lhasa and how much it would cost?
Gday, laurin
