2/3 weeks tour of China - June/July

Hi,

I am actually living in China near Chengdu but have only been in China a couple of months. I have a couple of friends visiting in June/July for 2/3 weeks and we are planning a bit of a tour. Chengdu will obviously be on the itinery but only for a day or two. Want to make the most of their trip and we are all adventurous types. Would like to see some of te more remoter parts of China and throw in some relaxation maybe towards the end of their stay. Does anyone have any reccommendations???

Cheers

You have been in China for a while so what is your idea of a good time? Give more information and maybe we can help.

Since you're already close to Chengdu, you might want to consider going to western Sichuan, to Kangding and the Tibetan areas. Then make your way to Yangshuo, south of Guilin, to relax for a few days.

Welcome to the TT! In the future you might want to give more information, like whether or not you can afford flights. That could affect how remote you go. Also tell us the arrival and departure cities of your friends. It would be a shame, IMO, to come to China and not see at least a historical place or two, like Beijing or Xi'an. You can have adventures anywhere, but there's only one Great Wall or Terracotta Warriors.

!! Be warned that "students" who want to practice English with you may actually be scammers. In Shanghai they try the Tea Ceremony Scam. In Beijing it's the Art Student Scam. Be very wary if a stranger wants to speak English with you, especially if you are in a tourist area. !!
