Train ticket to Lhasa on sales 20days in advance?

Hi,

I am planning for my Tibet trip in April. My agent told me that train tickets to Lhasa can be purchased 20 days in advance. Is it true?

Best regards,

Philip

The first day we can book the train ticket is 10 days before (Sometimes it。ヌs 20 days before). We will start to purchase train tickets and organize permit for you when we get confirmation of your deposit. (Note: we will try our best but we cannot promise to get the train tickets even if you transfer money into our bank account as it。ヌs hard to get train tickets sometimes. we will try to book 2 lower beds and 2 middle, but is it ok to book upper beds if it's not available?) if we cannot get the train tickets to Lhasa, we will refund you the money but the banking charge of the transfer will be deducted accordingly. If the train ticket is not available and you would like to take a flight (during Y1750/pp and Y1940/pp including air ticket, permit and transportation from Sim。ヌs to Chengdu airport) instead, the money you have transferred can be used to pay for the flight to Lhasa. (Note: Exchange rate is according to the date when you come to Sim。ヌs cozy travel)

This is part o0f an email I just recieved from Sims. PM if you'd like a copy of the complete email. There's nothing in it thats personal.

deepnds on WHERE you buy tehm=starting station and WHAT train and WHAT type of accomodation you want, you did not mention any of these

so you believe anything - on the news? on TV? in your guidebook? on this forum? good luck then - you'll need it!

In a lot of places you can book train tickets 10 days in advance, but in some places it is only 5 days. I have never heard of being able to book train tickets 20 days in advance.

#5, I think #2 means what kind seat/sleeper.
Losang, the only trains that are bookable 20 days in advance are the Z trains.

Another part of the email. Plus when we want to travel in April, the train is only running every 2nd day.

At the moment the cost is ticket price(Ticket price: about Y700/pp for hard sleeper and Y1100/pp for soft sleeper) + Y450/pp (includes permit, transportation from Sim。ヌs to Train station, Lhasa train station to Lhasa hostel, one night accommodation of dormitory. No refund even if you won。ヌt stay in the hostel we provide). To reserve a ticket you would need to transfer Y800/pp (No banking charge on our side).
