advance Lhasa booking from Chengdu

Hi everyone,
I'll be traveling alone to Tibet for the Saga Dawa festival at the end of May. Reading previous threads, it seems that it takes a few days to arrange a flight and TTB permit from Chengdu to Lhasa. Because I need to book a hotel in Lhasa, and show up on time to keep the reservation, my question is about booking that flight in advance, from the USA, rather than on arrival in Chengdu.

The plan is to fax the relevant information to Sim's Cozy Travel service as soon as I have a US-Beijing-Chengdu ticket and visa, arrive in Chengdu, pick up my ready-and-waiting Lhasa ticket and permit, and fly to Lhasa the next day. Does that sound like something that Sim's can reliably deliver?

I'm concerned that any undue wait time in Chengdu will cause me to lose the hotel reservation. I will have suitcases with photo gear, and do not want to be without a room during a presumably busy festival week in Lhasa.

Thanks, Paul.

Yes, Sim's should be able to do that.
Cheers!

Paul,

I got the following reply from Sim's when I asked if I could fly out to Lhasa the day after I get into Chengdu:

"Normally we need 1 to 2 days to arrange the permit and ticket, so you can fly to Lhasa the day after you arrive Sim's if you could send us all the documents (passport, visa and airticket to Chengdu) by email at least about 5 days before. (Note: we will book the airticket for you first but won't issue it on the day you come to Sim's travel agency, so the price will be not fixed until you come to Sim's. But we can issue it if it's ok to transfer deposit into our bank account)"

Thanks for your replies.

Celinaa, when I posted I was awaiting a reply from Sim's, and my question was really regarding the wisdom of hinging a fixed travel schedule on the honesty and reliability of Sim's Cozy Travel.
But the response you received, and the more detailed one that I received today make me feel confident to go ahead and book the flight in advance with a deposit. Meanwhile I'll work on Plan B, just in case!

Sim can easily arrange this for you in 2 days or less.
