try searching this thread.

1) North face. Try the Hong Qiao or Pearl market near the temple of heaven, but haggle hard. I bought afake one, but the quality was superb and lasted 4 years in China before I gave it away in excellent nick.

2) Chinese food. ???? anywhere. any street. try Haidian. Xue Yuan Lu, for example. Avoid Qianmen as they charge extra just for being Qianmen.

Eh, I've been answering the knock-off market question for ages. Answer: Science & Technology Museum metro stop (line 2) in Pudong; Qipu Lu; 580 Nanjing Xilu (near Chengdu Beilu); 2465 Huarong Lu (near Longhua Lu, Longhua Temple). Also take a look at this and that.
And those are not "discount" North Face jackets. They're just fakes which look like the real thing but which don't really work like the real thing. And these are the most touristy places you could be going to, unfortunately!
Looking for "Chinese" food in China? Gee, you have to be more specific. The whole country's littered with Chinese restaurants, you don't need us to tell you where to find it.
"Going out": Xintiandi, Tongren Lu, Hengshan Lu, Fuxing Park, Maoming Lu, Julu Lu.
Cheers!

Agree with Ellyse. Becareful with your choice of North Face jackets. Otherwise you are likely to get one where the label is more waterproof than the "Gortex" jacket!
