Packing lightHi. Having mostly backpacked in SEA and India and used to travelly really light - 8-10 kg max, I haven't a clue of what type of clothes etc to take for backpacking one month. We will be in Germany - Munich - 5 days (my daughter is on business here, I am not), Italy - 2 weeks, Czech Republic - 1 week. We are travelling mostly by train.
I'd appreciate any packing suggestions from experienced European backpackers on essentials and travelling light. I figure that what I save on precautionary meds for Asia might allow me a little extra in clothes. We are going from mid May to mid June. Help.

1mid May - mid June? Mostly mild weather, about 20 degrees, but it can rain (the weather this year in CZ is quite strange), so definitely take rain coat, summershoes (flipflops) and normal ones, long trousers and shorts, but don´t bring much of warm clothes. The time you travel is (in my opinion) absolutely ideal for this region. Not so hot like in July and not se wet line in April.

2The best shoes to travel in are old-therefore-comfortable black leather shoes. Nothing makes you stand out as a tourist - and look "too casual" - more than runners or hiking boots.
Czech rep has plenty of cheap made-in-China clothes but good quality clothing is harder to find, and thus more expensive. Cehap and ok-quality sports clothes are pretty easy to find if you need them.
Don't bother taking a sleeping bag or a blanket. You won't need a sheet, either.
I would recommend you go Gernany-Czech-Italy rather than Germany-Italy-Czech. Clothes are pretty cheap in Czech, so if you discover that you need something, you won't find yourself having to go shopping in an expensive Italian town.
