Any problems switching passports - Chinese / Vietnam border?

I have two valid British passports and due to time constraints on obtaining visas, I want to put my Chinese visa in one and my Vietnam visa in the other. I will be taking the Beijing – Hanoi train and I wondered if anyone who has crossed this border can see any problems with me leaving China on one passport and then entering Vietnam on the other.

Are the immigration posts a distance apart to enable me to do the switch?

Regards

I did a similar thing last year at the Chinese and Nepal border and there was no problem as the border posts are about 7km apart.

I haven't done it at this border, but I have at other places. I have even handed guards the wrong passport and they hand it back telling me that there is no visa. Never a problem. They don't care that you have 2 or more passports.

Since I have taken the time to answer your question, it would be nice if you took the time to respond as to whether the information was helpful.

As everbrite said, it's never a problem.
