Chicago consulate mailing visa

In the past I've been able to drop off my passport and visa application and the Chinese consulate (in Chicago) would mail it back to me if I provided a stamped, self-addressed, express mail envelope and an extra $5. The explanation for this procedure used to be on their website, but isn't anymore. I'm wondering if they still provide this service or if they only have pick-up. Has anyone done this recently at the Chicago Consulate or any of the other consulates/embassies in the States? Thanks.

All Chinese consulates in the US now refuse mailed applications. The only way to get a Chinese visa is to have it delivered personally. You can do it yourself, you can arrange for a friend or family member or stranger to drop it off and pick it up or you can arrange it through a visa service. Mail service is no longer accepted.

Since I have taken the time to answer your question, it would be nice if you took the time to respond as to whether the information was helpful.

Just to be clear, both drop-off and pickup must be done personally, either by you, someone else, or a visa service. No mail service at either end.

I'm in there just about every day, they don't offer mail in delivery but they do allow you to do the drop off with mailing back.
At least they did until the first of this year.

REVISION:
I was wrong.. my bad.. No return mail service. I was thinking about Chinese visa and passport holders.. That service is not available for citizens of USA or another nation..

They only do mail in for Chinese passport renewals.
