Overland Tibet to Nepal in July

I am planning on visiting China, Tibet and Nepal with a friend in the summer and we are trying to decide whether to begin in Bejing (taking the train to Llasa) and then overland to Nepal or vice versa.

I am leaning toward starting in Beijing and ending up in Nepal because of how much more difficult it sounds like it would to arrange the journey to Tibet from Nepal rather than from China. The only problem is that this would mean we would be going into Nepal during the monsoon season. Has anyone done the overland trip from Tibet to Nepal in July? I heard that the roads might be closed because of rain and that the views would be bad.

Unfortunately we can't change our travel dates (June 15th-July 8th) any because of work.

If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great!

Thanks, Leslie

Hi there!!!

I'd say its a good itinerary. Start and end in Nepal. Regarding the monsoon, you never know, at times it might start a bit late and few stretches on the way is prone to landslide and at times you might got stok on the way. It will be a different experience. I tell you, i have the experience of doing the tour even during august which is meant to be monsoon and didn't have to face much problems.
