SHANGHAI XIANG YANG MARKET

Hi I'm going to Shanghai next March , and I remember last time I was there Xiang Yang market -where you can find all the most expensive international brands for a few euros/dollars- was still very active.

Somebody told me it has been closed down...does anybody know an alternative place to buy this kind of goods ?

Thanks, Jordi

-sighz- I've been answering questions like these ever since around May last year.
1) Science and Technology Musuem metro stop (line 2) in Pudong --> highest concentration
2) 580 Nanjing Xilu (near Chengdu Beilu)
3) Qipu Lu
4) Longhua Lu x Huarong Lu (had better directions but don't remember now)
5) Huaihai Donglu x Xizang Nanlu
Cheers!

Those inexpensive international brands are probably knock-offs. Someone please enlighten me on this!

Worse than knock-offs, they are most often fake copies. For example, water goes straight through those North Face "Gortex" jackets!

Re: #3: You miss the point. In China, what you wear is only for show, functionality is irrelevant.

#4, you forgot a disclaimer. That usually only applies for PRC citizens, not foreigners!
Cheers!

Excuse me #6. That entry was written in Feb 2006, before it closed down at the end of Jun 2006. Not a few days ago!
Cheers!

At Xiang Yang I bought 3 North Face parkas and pants for my kids and I and have used them for the last 3 years. Perfect!
I also bought a "genuine Fake" Franck Muller watch (no batteries) off a street vendor for $10 and it hasn't missed a beat in 3 years!
My fake Callaways for $150 have also proven a great investment .You just need to know what you're looking for
