Affordable hostels in Shanghai and around

Hi there

Does anyone know if there are any cheap hostels in Shanghai and in cities aound Shanghai (Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou)? I am looking for dormitory accomodation, preferably at around 50 Yuan per person for a night.

Thanx in advance

To cut a long story short, I would never recommend Captain's Hostel to anyone whom I would consider a friend.
Hiker IYH at 450 Jiangxi Zhonglu, 5+ mins walk from Nanjing Donglu metro stop (line 2) on Nanjing Lu pedestrian street (telephone number 86-21-63297889) and Etour IYH at 57 Jiangyin Lu, near People's Square metro interchange would be much more worthwhile.
There're 2 IYHs that I know of in Nanjing, one at Fuzimiao and another on Zijinshan (Purple Gold Mountain). The latter is too far from town, the former should be quite good.
Only 1 IYH in Suzhou at Shiquan Jie, near Master-of-Nets Garden.
Many IYHs have mushroomed in Hangzhou but mostly on the west side of West Lake, a bit too far removed for my taste. The main Hangzhou IYH on Nanshan Lu opposite the Hangzhou Art Academy is still the most well-located.
All those places should have dorms within your budget range.
Cheers!

Hostels in Hangzhou

Note: not all of these listed are YHI and some are not really "hostels".

In Hangzhou, I like the Nanshan Road one too.

I have also become a big fan of the Hu zhong ju/ Mingtown Garden Youth Hostel (Add.: 4 Zhaogongdi, Yanggongdi Rd. Tel: 87975883), located just off Yanggong Causeway in an old-style building on that pilgrimage path between the lake and Lingyin Temple, with views of the flower nursery across a small river and breakfast in a courtyard among the gardens. If you plan on eating at the hostel, the nanshan road one has western breakfast and the green tea hostel has a bbq/bar.
