Lhasa agencies

Hi. For a trip to Mt Kailash and Lake Mansarova for two people, is it possible to just arrive in Lhasa and find plenty of agencies offering this trip (we would want the tour organising quite quickly when we arrive)?. Or is it advisable to book one before you arrive? Who are the best agencies for a cheap tour and can you join larger groups to save money?

Apologies if these questions have been answered before, I found a lot of answers regarding independent travel to Kailash but for convenience (and time restrictions) I plan to take an agency tour.

Arrange it once you get there. There are lots of agencies in Lhasa that can do it for you. I would recommend going to several and trying to find the best price. Feel free to negotiate on the price. Don't take the first price they give you.

We went with the place that's to the left of the Pentoc hotel as you face it from the street. They were cheapest and the trip went fine. Give the landcruiser a once over the night before though to check for any potential problems. Not that many people do the trip so advertise on hotel notice boards to get more people to keep cost down (as you pay per jeep). I think 4 in a landcruiser is as many as you'd want not to feel cramped.

I'd try the FIT office in the Snowlands Hotel. they organised an EBC 5 day trip for us, and we found them really good to deal with as their english was perfect and they wrote out a detailed contract.
