One Year China Visa

Hello all,

I am currently based in Dunhuang, China and my L class (3 month)visa expires on the 22nd Feb. I'm travelling to Hong Kong just after the Spring Festival to get a new one year continuous stay multiple entry visa. One travel agency called Sunrise travel Co (http://www.chinavisa.com.hk/) prices this at 2730 HKK dollars for a UK passport. Another travel agency called Forever bright prices this at 2230 HKK. However Forever Bright and several other agencies have told me it's not easy anymore to get a 12 month visa if my last visa was a L class one.

Is this true?
Does anyone have any recent information regarding this?
Can you recommend any other travel agencies in HKK?

Thanks very much,
Stephen

Whether or not your last visa was an L is not the issue. It seems that HK travel agencies no longer can get one year mulit entry. They now offer 6 months one.
In the past, to get a one year F you needed a previous (6 month) F visa in your passport. I do not know if there are any such restrictions on getting a 6 month one. Things change in this area, so who knows. Brits get charged a higher fee than many others.

I have a previous six month F visa in my passport from last year. Whether that will help I don't know.

Go here: Foreverbright. easy to get to and will help.

I think you will need 2 or 3 3 month F's in your passport to get a longer one. I got my F when they handed out year longs, but I'm told they can only do six monthers now.

anyway, an email to them will get you sorted.

They are very handy on Science Museum road.

Um, don't know about your nationality. from your email I will assume that you are British. his information helps, you know.

My 1 year visa in an Aussie passport cost me HKD$900. Brits pay a bit more, but no as much as you have stated.

anyway contact FBT and tell them about the F you have.

Hi thanks for the replies. I'll be contacting Forever Bright when I land. They've told me they can deal with me on the 25th and that they 'maybe' able to get a visa. We'll see. I'll post and tell the experience after.

Quick update to this thread. From Jan 01 2008, it may be no longer possible to obtain even a 6 month business visa for china in hong kong due to likely Olympic games restrictions on long term stays - don't ask me why. Forever Bright Travel to will not issue 6 month single/multiple visas after that date.
