hello!
I cross the border to tibbet hopefully in march 20-25, I think of do it by hitchhike.
is there a good road (highway) betwin chengdu to lahsa?
is it posible to skip the permit if I don't take the trein?

The major roads should be all good enough, most of them are paved now.
If you plan to hitch or to travel alone between Chengdu and Lhasa, you don't need to ask for a permit, because you wouldn't get one.
Usually it is relatively easy to hitch, but after crossing the Jinsha Jiang you shouldn't plan on staying in hotels anymore.
If you still do you have to be very lucky to make it all the way to Lhasa. Although last year the PSB seemed to be quite relaxed.
