Another Visa Question

My girlfriend and I are setting off for our trip in 3 weeks time, we are going to India, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam & China, for 5 months in total. We are just trying sort out a Chinese visa but have read that it is valid for 3 months after issue. The problem is that it will take us longer than that to get to China as it is the last place on our trip and I read somewhere that you need to apply from your country of origin which appears to make it impossible for us to get one from Bangkok for example.

Is there any way around this? It must have happened to people here before.

Also on the visa form it asks for the contact details of a company or person we are visiting in China...what should we put in that box?

Thanks

From what ive read it is possible and not that difficult to get a visa and extensions in Hong Kong.
It depends on the amount of time you intend to stay.

Ive also heard about visa's that are valid from date of entry but these may not be tourist ones or may not exist.

We thought we might have the same problem, as we are not going to china until the end of the trip, but there are ways around it,
I think it would be useful for you to contact your nearest embassy or consulate and ask them they will be able to guide you better than I can.

Im not sure on the person to visit I didnt realise it was essential to have a contact in china for all visas.

No, you don't need to get one from your country of origin. Is that order the one in which you're visiting the countries? You might want to look into getting the visas from Vietnam or Thailand (Bangkok), assuming you're not going to Hong Kong anytime before mainland China.
The visa entry is valid for 90 days from date of issue, meaning you'll have to enter within 90 days of getting the visa issued.
I think you can just leave that space about company/person to visit in China blank.
Cheers!

it is quite easy to get the visa for china in asian countries but as already stated, you must enter the country within 3 months of issue. the other down side is that it seems to take 4 working days to process unless you pay to expedite. this was true in cambodia as well as viet nam. i am willing to say that depending on the country and embassy or consulate and your home country, things could be different. but, bottom line, is that you can procure the visa out of your home country with no worries. have a great trip.

I've got Chinese visas at their embassies in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. I'm neither Thai nor Malaysian.
