Lots of people enter China and depart through Vietnam, Hong Kong, Mongolia, etc overland. Visa authorities just want some idea of your plans.

Since I have taken the time to answer your question, it would be nice if you took the time to respond as to whether the information was helpful.

I have travelled to China from Canada with only a one-way ticket and was not given any trouble by Chinese authorities. Leaving the airport in Canada though, the Air Canada check-in agent had to confirm with her manager that I could travel to China with a one-way ticket before allowing me to check-in. Leaving Mainland China to Hong Kong counts as leaving 'China', which also means if you go to Hong Kong and wish to re-enter China, you'll need another visa, or a double entry visa.Posted By: VenessaP -- 28-Jan-2010 15:01
