guanzhou to nanning


could anyone tell me if there are berths for just 2 people on this route. i will be coming from hong kong so will change to get this train and try to connect with the nanning to hanoi without having to stay in nanning again. but does anyone know if it is possible to buy the train ticket at hong kong station or do i have to wait till i get into china.

You can't buy Chinese rail tickets in HK as far as I know. Maybe some travel agents like CTS will do it for you, but they're bound to charge much more. Do it in Guangzhou.

I know you can get train tickets 3 days in advance from CTS in Hong Kong but not less than 3 days.

I am not sure about a cabin with 2 berths. Soft sleepers have 4 berths so you may have to share your cabin

I also hear that there is a new bus service out of Nanning. Leaving every morning at 7.30am from outside the Phoenix hotel and arriving in Hanoi 6 hours later. The bus is meant to be super deluxe with wide leather seats. The cost is 120 Yuan per person

Based on experience with Chinese trains in general, I'd bet no to your 2-berth soft sleeper question.

i have travelled on chinese trains hong kong to beijing and beijing to xian and had a 2 berth both times and i actually thought the train was great. does anyone know how to go about finding out about the berths on the trains.

You could always ask directly. The only ones that I know of which would have those 2-berth compartments for sure would be the Z trains, and the international ones (Hong Kong is considered international).
