Hi rongallagher,
Just arrived back from a 4 month stint in Europe so this is the first time I have been on LP since leaving Oz in early April.
Re the company that I used in Frankfurt, I'm afraid that my experience with them ended up a bit of a sad story.
Ownership of the company changed hands about 3 years ago and when we went back 2 years ago to pick up the vehicle for our annual trip we found that the vehicle had been "plundered".
Personal effects (clothing, laptop, GPS, LCD TV), engine parts, solar panels, batteries, tyres, etc. had been "cannibalised" from the vehicle
Naturally enough, the new owners knew nothing even though they had the only key (and the vehicle hadn't been broken in to).
The engine parts (such as the turbocharger) and the tyres that were removed made the vehicle "undriveable and it would have taken many thousands of euros (and time) to get it back on the road.
We contacted the German police who went out and did an investigation but, not surprisingly, there was no charges laid and no evidence of who the culprit/s were!
As we had had 3 big trips (5-6 months each time) around Europe, we well and truly got our money's worth out of the van (they are very expensive to hire so we had recovered our original outlay at the end of the first trip).
Obviously, I didn't know who was responsible for the theft (the old owners or the new owners) so we just went out and hired a station wagon car (a Peugeot lease) for 4 months and did a driving holiday around Europe.
We have just completed a similar holiday again.
Base on our experience I certainly wouldn't recommend this company to you now but I'm quite sure that there will be other reputable German companies around that would provide the same services as we enjoyed!
Sorry I can't be more help to you unless you are interested in doing what we have done for our last 2 trips to Europe.
We loved the van but it did have limitations which we now no longer have !
If you have any more questions, please feel free to send me a private message and I will try to assist.
Cheers,
wopdrnn

This information is for 2006 is it still relevant in 2012 and if so what is the name of the company that we could buy a motorhome from in Germany.

Sorry for delayed response (been on holidays and away from computer).
No, the company has changed ownership and I would not reccommend new owners.
Cheers,

#88:

Have you read the thread, especially the following parts:

Personal effects (clothing, laptop, GPS, LCD TV), engine parts, solar panels, batteries, tyres, etc. had been "cannibalised" from the vehicle
Naturally enough, the new owners knew nothing even though they had the only key (and the vehicle hadn't been broken in to).

Hi wopdrm

Would appreciate more information on the 'Peugeot Lease vehicle' your mentioned in post 38. Seems buying a used motor home can be big hassle in Europe and I have forund that in UK I cannot insure a Motor Home there because I am over 75.

Hi wopdrm

We are in the process of trying to do what you did with the camper. Please contact me on touring(at)tabcomsys.com with whom NOT to deal with.

Thanks
Barry
