Got 5 days to kill any good hiking suggestions outside of KathmanduI was hoping of a few suggestions on things to do by Kathmandu.
Went to Bahktupar already, also did the 3 day hike from Nagarkot to Panauti stopping over in Namo Buddha. Was thinking of doing the Helambu circuit but feel like it may be to much in only 5 days.
Thx for any recommendations

The full Helambu Circuit is probably too much in 5 days (it would be for me anyway) but it can be shortened. Perhaps head up the ridge from Sundarijal (the usual start) to Kutumsang or Magin Goth then drop into the valley then follow the valley to Talamarang and take a bus from there or continue to Melamchi (the traditional finish) and take the bus from there.

3Many standard itineraries spend the first night at Chisapani (good views bit a soulless place) and some people push on to Patibhanjyang then the second night at Kutumsang. An early start from there should get you to Talamarang (though I have not trekked this section so can't giv a time) for a bus which will reach KTM early evening on the third day.
Having said that, I don't know the times of buses from Talamarang (some buses start from Melamchi). It's definitely worth getting more certain information before trying to do this in 3 days. You could also turn off at Patibhanjyang to Talamarang and overnoght there.
Another suggestion, avoiding the long bus journey back to KTM, is Budhanilkantha - Chisapani - Sundarijal (or Nagarkot). No times for this either and there have been 'incidents' on the trail from B in the past.

5Hi, we did the Helambu route in 2012 as suggested by scoodly. Starting at Sunderijal we did not go all way to Kutumsang. First night stay was Chisopani, second night Gul Bhangyang. At Gul Bhangyang we cut across to Talamarang and stayed a night there before walking on the next day to Melamchi from where we caught a ride back to Dhulikhel and then walked to Nagarkot staying overnight there. We did it in 4 days, Sunderijal to Melamchi Pul but had 1 very light day in there so I would reckon on 3 days ought to be achievable. Chisopani was pretty soulless but some lovely views on the route and some interesting places to stop for tea.
