There used to be several levels of taxi service from NAIA: coupon taxi, yellow airport taxi, and the ubiquitous white Corolla regular taxis. You can spend more and feel a little more secure with either of the first two. Also possible to pull out your cell phone and ask the taxi driver for their license number, then say you are texting it to the reception at your hotel. (You can even research this number in advance and actually text the number to them.)

taking a taxi from the airport these days is safe and easy, your given choices of the level of comfort, if your at all concerned just go to the yellow ones which are quite professional.

As above...take a yellow taxi,you will pay a little more than a regular cab but it should be a decent vehicle with working air con and more professional driver who will not give you the "scenic route" to your hotel

Very safe and very easy to Makati. As above just take a metered taxi and should be no more than 100 peso. To avoid any problems in Manila, never get into a taxi unless the driver agrees to use the meter..

make sure to change some cash at the airport in order to get some 20 and 100 peso notes.You can then use an ATM for 1000 peso notes.

I have had 3 attempted scams using the usually reliable yellow meter taxis ( out of maybe 20 rides) where twice the meter was set at 200 / 100 pesos starting fare instead of 50 and once when the guy did't turn the meter on without prompting but as long as you are on the lookout you are OK. In Manila watch out for firstly touts, you are waiting for a taxi and someone who you think is the driver walks up from the direction of a parked up taxi and asks if you want a taxi. he is not the driver but expects a tip to take you to No 2 scam - the agreed fare - you get in the taxi and you are presented with a list of fares. These are about 4 times the meter fare and thirdly the lurkers who park up outside hotels and wont put the meter on.

There are plenty of taxis and the ones you hail which are in motion tend to be honest but ones parked up invariably are hoping to make their money by sitting on their backsides then screwing someone for well over the correct fare.

There are prepaid taxis at the airport but they are about double the yellow taxi fare.

I do feel 100 is a bit light to Makati - i would guess closer to 200.

I agree, P200 about $5 is nearer the mark from Naia to Makati

your given a receipt with a number on it when you enter a yellow taxi which is supposed to be used if your not satisfied with the service. If you feel they are trying to scam you report the driver or at least threaten him with being reported. That is the whole point of paying extra for the service

When you exit the terminal, keep right, go past the white suv taxis with the set fare, not far past that there is a lineup for yellow taxis, this is what you want. 180-250 to Makati depending on traffic.

You could ask if your hotel can provide transport, but quite honestly it's not a big worry getting a taxi from the airport. last time I was there there was a line for the yellow taxis, just over the other side was the booth for the voucher taxis. Have used both without a problem.
Years ago had the old scam where, after agreeing fare before we set off, driver produced a nice leather bound folder with a nice printed price list, which was of course a lot higher than the agreed fare. I just smiled and reminded him we had already set the fare.
IMO there are many more good taxi drivers in Manila than the few rogues...

How much does one of those yellow cabs cost form the airport to cubao bus terminal?

I would guess around 600 pesos . There isn't a bus station as such in Cubao but the lines have their own terminals which is frustrating as you can be at 5 star in Cubao wanting to go to Dau and you watch the Victory liners pass by on EDSA. Where are you going to as it may be easier to get a bus from a Pasay terminal. When on EDSA I often see public buses non A/C with a destination board of NAIA and they work their way slowly round EDSA from Monumento in the North down to I guess somewhere near NAIA and without much luggage and time on your hands would be a way to get to a Cubao terminal. If someone could enlighten me as to where you get on as they dont stop outside the trminal building.

Hi blossom,

i'll arrive in manila 22:30 pm and want to take a nightbus straight to san juan (la union). So im trying to catch a ride with either partas bus oder dominion bus (both gong to vigan or laoag), which have terminals close to each other in cubao.

600 sounds quiet pricey but given the time i arrive i gotta pay this.
