Lalibela - how long is the entrance fee valid for?

Hi,

I have just read that the entrance fee for Lalibela has gone up to 1000B (approx US$50). Is this a single day pass, or is it valid for multiple days?

thanks

We visited Lalibela on Dec 22, 2012 and the entrance fee for the churches is 350 ETB (about US$20) and is valid for as long as you are in Lalibela (up to 5 days). No need to spend more than 2-3 days there.

Price went up to $50 on Jan 9-and the new one is valid for 4 days.

Could it be because of Timkit (Epiphany) coming up mid-January ? On 7 January (local Christmas) it was 400 ETB.

No, it's 'permanent', although the guides were pretty annoyed about it when we were there the other week, and just may be able to pressurize the priests to lower the admission...
