Budget accomodation in Sosua or Cabarete

10-15 years ago there was many options for cheap places to stay in this area but as things change I was wondering if that's still the case and if anyone had some specific info on budget digs?

I stayed in a small motel style place (near Cabarete) with a pool for $20US per night. I think it was called Arco Iris. Is it still there and is it still a bargain?

Hey,
i was in Sosua in June of 2012. I stayed in casa cayena it was around 70/75 bucks a night though. there was a pool and breakfast everymorning. and the beach was right down the block on one end, and night life on the other.

I stayed in the first place I saw when I arrived in Cabarete. It cost US$25 or 30: pretty basic, nothing special, nothing fancy but easy and secure. If you want cute, quaint, reliable hot water or WiFi, on-site bar, restaurant or pool....double that. If you want less, there's a hostel in town.

Mark, thanks for the reply and do you remember the name of the place and roughly where it was?

I'm thinking of riding out of the airport on my bicycle and heading east to the Cabarete area...
