Air Canada baggage
Hi Canadians, or anyone travelling from Canada to Cuba by Air Canada.I wrote here a few months back--but before all was lost in the Search forum--that Air Canada had suspended their charges for bikes to Cuba. Just had a friend leave yesterday, and what we discovered is that Air Canada has suspended ALL charges for luggage to Cuba. It is on their site at our airport, but I can't find anything indicating such on my computer--but it is true. Noone knows why, or for how long. What this meant, is that our friend, planning to take two 50 lbs.bags (extra cost for second checked bag= $20), and also a 3rd checked bag -overweight and oversize--of 70lbs-at a cost of $225.00---was charged NOTHING for his luggage from Smithers to Havana. If you've been thinking of taking allowable stuff down for friends, now is a good chance to do it. Again--I AM NOT advocating travel by Air Canada over ANY alternatives---but IF you are flying Air Canada, you may want to take advantage of this information.

Interesting F - there was a recent (Candian) returned traveler from Cuba who ditto posted on another forum a few days ago and they were confronted by some scepticism until the guy posted a link to the actual website outline as per your summary.2
All those returning Cubans will be showing up a the airport with refrigerators and washing machines, now....jejeReminds me of when Taca was flying between Canada and Havana over a decade ago. If you didn't show up early, your luggage might not make it onto the flight, what, with all the washing machines, freezers, TV's that were being brought back by visiting Cubans. And, yes, once, I saw a fridge.

Our group was not charged for extra or excess in October.Upon returning I tried to get some straight answers from AC about luggage policy for Havana. It was impossible.
