Underwater Camera

Anyone got a good tip for an underwater camera?

Doesn't need to go down to more than 10 metres (it is for a friend who wants to go snorkelling).

He had one of those disposal ones but says that the pictures were rubbish...so I'm going to buy him a new one.

Not TOO expensive though ;-)

Thanks Luc

Hey Luc,

There's a great online resource that should answer most of your questions:

Good luck finding what you need,

Well for my money lucapal there is only one camera to buy these days. http://gopro.com/activity-shop

Nothing compares to it for an all round travel and activity tool.

Check this video, shot entirely using a Gopro. http://gopro.com/

You could buy him the cheaper model or just a case (fits all) and let him buy the camera. I never believe in buying cheap junk. This camera is now being used by all kinds of professionals for shooting activities.

This thing has more accessories than any 'camera' I've ever seen. Check them all on the link I provided. You could find something to buy for a gift for the rest of your friend's life. LOL

What other camera has a surfboard mount available? If you watch news programs carefully you will even see US troops wearing these on their helmets in Afghanistan, etc.

I bought a Nikon coolpix AW100 that is waterproof to 10m. I used it in the rainforest in Nicaragua, and on a kayak trip in the rain. It works great.

What do you define as not 'Too' expensive?

Looks good micky. I found one online for $200 so that seems reasonable. I just can't get past the versatility of the GoPro Hero cameras though.

Kind of like settling for less if you know what I mean. I hate it when the budget makes you look at doing that. Almost invariably, I say to hell with the budget. LOL
