Do you suggest me to fly from Lima to Cusco ?

I've been told that landing in Cusco is quite spectacular and I was thinking to save some time. What do you think about it ?

I wouldn't take the bus. The journey is pretty hellish, at least 18 hours by bus and in this season up to 24 hours.

Flights are not that expensive and it only takes an hour to get to Cusco. I'm not all that enthralled by the arrival, seeing Salkantay off to the left is nice but the part of Cusco you fly in to is not exactly scenic.

Would not call it scenic--just another airport. But beats taking the bus for 20 hours. Star is the way to fly but Lan has more flights

Taxi drivers at the airport go out of their way to try to rip you off. Could not believe how much they asked to go to Plaza de armas.

If you have the money...and you don't want to stop anywhere on the way...then I'd fly too.The bus is not that comfortable!

really nobody recommending the bus? how much does it cost to take the bus and are the conditions really that bad during march?

Really bad...no.

Just a long,not very comfortable and mostly boring trip.

If you haven't got the money for the flight....or you have the time to break the trip up (eg stop at Nazca,Arequipa etc.)...then taking the bus is fine.

If you want to do it by direct bus....20 hours and from about US$50 upwards,depending which company you use.
