Camping in Puerto Rico

I need advice; going to be in puerto rico for a week. Im planning on staying in osj the first and last night, and camping every other night. I'd like a mix of rain forest / beach camping. I'll have a car or possibly a jeep. I'd like to kayak, hike, bike, snorkel, and take surf lessons.

Also will my tent and gear be OK in my car during the day while I'm off having adventures?
