Niagara Falls to Montreal - bus, train or fly?

How would you do this trip? I see there are plenty of indirect flights, but what Canadian bus or train companies do it, and would they be easier than flying?

Yes, train is Via but it does not run very frequently between Niagara Falls and Toronto. It is quite frequent between Toronto and Montreal. The bus options between Niagara Falls and Toronto are Greyhound and Coach Canada. From Toronto, you can take Megabus to Montreal. Alternatively, you can fly to Montreal from Toronto's Downtown Island airport via Air Canada or Porter. You can also take Niagara Air bus to the larger Pearson International Airport where you can take Air Canada or WestJet to Montreal. I find airports a hassle, especially for such a short flight so I'd opt for the train or the bus. The bus is usually pretty cheap, the train can be expensive but if you purchase ahead of time or find a sale it can be a competitive price. Flight prices vary considerably. Good luck!

Megabus will be your best bet. From Niagara Falls to Toronto is about $ 13.00 but a late night bus can be $ 1.00.
From Toronto to Montreal prices are $ 59.00 and $ 69.00.
Their buses have free internet access. 50 lb luggage allowance.

I chose an arbitrary date of December 21 for travel, other dates may produce different results

If you book farther ahead, then the Toronto - Montreal price is substantially lower. For example, I randomly chose Feb. 7 and it is showing $13.00 for the trip.

Thanks people. Seems like bus may be the way to go, especially as we are now thinking of a stopover in Toronto.

train for the view and ease montreal to tronto, then bus on from there to the falls, you can get many buses during the day but the train only goes once or twice a day, from both falls terminals (old town across from each other) you cab it from there over to the falls two main accom points

GO now goes frequently from Toronto to Niagara Falls. However, the trip requires a change from the train to the bus in Burlington, though it is seamless and done on one fare. This is a good option for those not wanting to have to go from the train station (Union) to the bus station in Toronto, which is a few subway stops away. Also good for those flying into the Island airport, which arrives at Union station (via quick shuttle).
