new years eve 12.31.12 in Hong Kong

anyone have any good suggestions for a new years eve cruise company in Hong Kong. Or a good venue to watch the fireworks and festivities. don't really want to fight the masses on the streets and try to hold a spot to watch the fireworks. Not too concerned about cost....don't want to break the bank, but willing to spend some cash for a nice evening. Nothing fancy though, we won't have the attire for black tie or anything like that.

any suggestions are appreciated!
thanks!

The fireworks are at midnight, and are more like pyrotechnics from buildings around the harbour, rather than the Chinese New Year display which are from boats in the harbour.

Some cruises are mentioned here: http://www.discoverhongkong.com/nz/see-do/events-festivals/highlight-events/winter-fest.jsp?page=5

Actually, this year's pyrotechnics are being launched from both buildings and from the harbour;

Thanks for the update. I guess this means no harbour cruises then.

I think there'll still be harbour cruises, at least HKTB website would appear to indicate so. The New Year Countdown pyrotechnics are, as I'm sure you're aware, not on anything like the scale of the CNY display, only 8 minutes and I expect harbour traffic will only briefly be halted in the close vicinity.

You could try one of the hotels with harbour views... but you might well find most of the venues are booked out already.
