Thailand and e-Cigarettes - legal or not?

Hi,

Does anyone know the Thai law concerning the possession and/or use of e-cigarettes - in particular the possession of the liquid nicotine used in e-Cigarettes?

Thanks.

The law, I don't know, but I saw the e-cigs for sale often enough on Sukhumvit that if the law forbids them, the law isn't being vigorously enforced.

Thanks Malvolio. I know you can buy e-cigs in MBK but I don't think you can buy the nicotine liquid for it (illegal, I think - hence the OP)

Really? What good is the e-cig without the stuff for it?

Just like in Australia - you can buy a bong in shops but of course you can't buy the marijuana as it is illegal.

Is that a cigarette you have when you're not really having a cigarette?

Hi,

OK you got me! For the first time perhaps in my life I am stumped. Anyone care to explain please? Due to my total innocence I can only presume what the heck an e-cig is.

Just like in Australia - you can buy a bong in shops but of course you can't buy the marijuana as it is illegal.

The difference is that bongs can be sold because they are called 'tobacco water pipes', which they can be used for tobacco. It is just convenient that you can smoke whatever you want out of them.

An e-cigarette, can only be used with the nicotine stuff.

What's the point of them anyways? Nicotine is nicotine? I've read they are even worse for you than regular smoking.

This post is not about the de/merits of e-Cig - just want to know if anyone can confirm the status of liquid nicotine as far as Thai law is concerned. Thank you.

I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out why it would be illegal in Thailand when smoking is so popular.

I have one. Thai friends have them. I assume they are legal. Numerous Thai websites sell the cartridges.

Hi,

No.13, I thought that they were like "strange substances" if you get my drift. Are they to help quitting or just a substitute?
