Snow in Morocco

Hello all,

for those of you due to or thinking of travelling in Morocco any time soon, it is a great time to come and visit the Middle and High Atlas. We have had a huge dump of snow and it is spectacular right now. Some of the best sunsets I've ever seen.

A word of warning to all coming though, it is bitterly cold so don't count on winter sun and bring your woollies, lots of people are getting caught out by the changes in temerature. Also, the roads can be dangerous at the best of times and need to be approached with even more caution than usual.

Nice pics. For some reason the Middle Atlas around Ifrane and Azrou gets the coldest temperatures** and the largest snow dumps in Morocco.

**high and low temperatures are only official when measured at government weather stations, which all tend to be at airports, hence the top of Toubkal doesn't count as a low temperature and the arid areas in the south don't count as highs. Ifrane holds Morocco's (and Africa's) record low temperature of -24ÂșC from Feb 1935.

Azrou through the seasons
Spring, late summer and winter all taken looking north towards Azrou
