K H Soon Guesthouse in BSB

Hi peeps - just wondering if anyone knows if this guesthouse is still open in BSB? I've tried emailing them but the email just bounces back.

Just dont expect cheerful, lol!! One thing, its nice and close to most things, in particular our favourite curry shop.
Taxis from the airport are a set price (no meters) plus we arranged for the same taxi driver to pick us up and take us back to the airport when we passed through again a few weeks later.

Why not ring them? It's not like international calls cost all that much... There's so little budget accommodation in Brunei that you might want to know for sure that you can get a bed there before flying in, otherwise you might unexpectedly end up somewhere much more expensive.
Cheers,
PS - their phone number is on the Brunei Tourism site at http://www.bruneitourism.travel/info/place.html

Phone number doesn't work either - mind you the Brunei Tourism site is dated 2005 so not really surprised it doesn't work. That was the main reason I wanted to email them - also I find it's much better to have something in writing to print off when you've reserved a room somewhere.

They have been around a long time in a building that had seen better days. Wouldnt be surprised if they had closed down. Problem is finding somewhere else thats not overly expensive in BSB.

The last review I've seen for them on TripAdvisor was for September. We might try the Pusat Belia but we arrive on a Sunday and the reception's not apparently manned on Sundays......grrr......

We might just have to fork out for a decent hotel in BSB! :) (Might make a change anyway from the jungle huts we are staying at in the rest of Borneo).

Pusat Belia is always open, and is never full to the best of my knowledge. Just drop in and help yourself to a room. It's the cheapest at $10/nite.

KS is also never full, walk-in rate same as advance booking, at least $30/nite for shared bunk bed.

Why pay more when you can pay less. Why pay when you can get for free!

Ha ha ....... love it.

Actually we'll try Pusat Belia first to see if it's open - hopefully it will be and if not, we'll just drop by K H Soon. If that fails well we'll just have to move up the dollar/per night rooms.

Thanks zaininabubakar

The guy who looks after Pusat Belia is often not there...especially evenings. Just go upstairs and find the dorms and hopefully there is still empty beds in the unlocked rooms......no mixed dorms. I had to do that earlier in the year and the manager did not seem bothered by it. I just paid in the morning when he showed up.

Hi folks - an update. Arrived in BSB at around 7pm and tried the Pusat Beliat but there was nobody around (it was a Sunday evening though) so went to the K H Soon and got in there. It wasn't as bad as I expected - certainly nowhere near the worst I've stayed in but definitely not worth the $45/night. Spent one night there and then transferred to the Pusat Belia which was great - very clean, brilliant swimming pool and all for $10/night each. Only downside was that there was a party of young kids who arrived who thought it was okay to practice their tae kwan do outside my room at 5.30am lol......

I'd definitely recommend the Pusat Belia and I guess also K H Soon too at a push. Maybe my standards are lower than most people's as my husband really didn't like Soon's. He thought it was really dirty (maybe I didn't see it because I didn't have my contact lenses in haha).
