We visited the Galapagos Islands in the first week of October 2010 and found it to be a perfect time to visit. The only drawback was the water was a bit cold, but it didn't really bother us. We snorkeled with wet suits, generally, but also went swimming with just bathing suits on. And the daytime temperatures were warm but very comfortable.4
We went in mid-July. Comfortable and warm in the day and night, no need for anything heavier than a light jacket or hoodie at night. I spent most of my days bare-legged. The only time it rained was on San Cristobal and we were in the highlands, but by the beaches, it was usually sunny and warm. For swimming, it was a bit cold at first but you warm up pretty quickly. No one wore wetsuits (except for one tour guide) and we were all fine. The water was clear and the snorkelling was great.
