Eritrea has been slowly and surely closing down. Visas are harder to get (if that's even possible) and travel in-country is even more restricted. In theory, it is now only possible to get the visa in your home country.2
Hi,The "best" solution is to ask one in your home country or at the Eritrean embassy who is dedicated to your country.

Good morning,Without any preparation, it’s impossible to receive a visa on arrival except in one case (it was possible in 2007 when I was there, I asked one) BUT you need to ask for the paper …in Asmara, at the immigration office!
It’s only useful if you have someone in the country who is asking the authorization (official paper) for you or if you will flight from Asmara to an other country and you coming back later (according you can’t have a new one (visa) at the place you reach)
The best place for a Eritrean visa is in your home country. No visa, no entry…

Are you Australian? I heard that at the Eritrean Consulate in Melbourne you can get a visa. At least that was what an Aussie told me about one year ago.Edited by: beibolugo
