Stuck in Manila - suggestions?
Hi,We only planned to stay in Manila for one night, but got stuck here because of the Typhoon.
Our plans were to go to Puerto Galera but the boats are not going right now, hopefully tomorrow.
We are now staying with Couch Surfing, and cannot stay here one more night.
We thought about going to Anilao today, and than crossing tomorrow to PG, but all the accommodation we've found is ssssooooo expensive,
and what if there are no boats tomorrow either?
So, any suggestion about places near manila to spend the night, preferably ones that won't get us farther from PG, or for a nice not expensive hotel in Manila?
Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow, as being stuck in Manila with all those beaches and diving so close by just sucks.
Thanks!

an inexpensive area in Manila to stay is Malate, without knowing the sort of room you would be looking here are a few suggestions...http://www.friendlysguesthouse.com/

Then spend a day walking around Rizal Park, Intramuros, Fort Santaigo and Ocean Park if you have time..4
You could try either Tune Hotel or VIP Suite Apartelle in Makati. Would be interested in your opinion. They seem fairly low budget. Or... just checked Agoda and there seem to be a few affordable places in Anilao with space left -- then you would already be at the water's edge.5
Thank you for the quick replays.Eventually, we will stay with out host one more night.
Philippines is more expensive that we remember, as we expiated to pay around 800-1000 for a double room, and it
seems that everything now is around 3000.

Just Manila seems expensive, I stayed in White beach, PG, 3rd floor overlooking the water with semiprivate terrace and fridge 2 weeks ago for 1100p/nite. Room had 2 double beds.7
"and it seems that everything now is around 3000"Should be able to find places in 600 to 800 php range once outside Manila..

VM resort at White beach, ask for Marlin, she runs it. Yes, there's diving at White beach as well but more organized at Sabang. I've stayed at VM twice now, got the best room in the house coz my friend was there ahead of me and he jumped on the room when the occupants left and I moved in after he left. The # I have for her from last year is 0920-418-6087. Ask for the fridge, they hoisted one up for me. The pic is from 2 weeks ago looking out from my terrace. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/10/dscf4322r.jpg/10
and it seems that everything now is around 3000Anilao is not the benchmark for accom in the Philippines. They have always been expensive since I can remember. There should be 1000 per night range in Sabang, where the diving action takes place.
Don't expect the waters will be safe enough to sail to soon. Typhoon is expected to leave Phils tom. Sometimes maritime people wait a day or two to give the clearance for small boats to sail.
