One excellent thing to do is to take the boat trip around the island the oldtown sits on and that also goes past the European parliament buildings. Remember what you saw that you liked, and then return there on foot. The boats leave from just south of the cathedral. Strasbourg has an excellent Christmas Market. We like dining at Chez Yvonne.

Baden-Baden community - not the town itself - stretches over nearly 900 altitude meters. At the higher areas of Baden-Baden the chances for snow are good. You could travel by Baden-Baden city bus e.g. to lake Mummelsee (1.036 m). Webcam.

Did you check the website of the Strasbourg tourist office yet? Because that's where you will find lots of information about museums, monuments, other sights, guided walks...

They will also have a map with with the locations of the different Christmas markets (pop into their office in town to pick it up if it's not downloadable) - there are several, with the main ones around the Cathedral and on place Broglie, but the smaller ones may be more interesting. Try to avoid the main markets on Saturdays as they get rather crowded, or go there late in the day; thus you will also be able to enjoy some great (and some naff) architectural lighting.

Some 2nd hand shops for rather nice clothes are located in Rue du jeu des enfants or Rue du vieux marché aux vins, I don't remember which.

If you want to go to a park, you could head to the parc de l' Orangerie just opposite the Council of Europe building and have a look at the storks (the Alsace's emblematic bird) staying there over winter, or to the Jardin des deux rives on the French and German banks of the Rhine.

Christmas markets are plentiful, Old Town and canals tours and cathedral, Council of Europe buiding, day trip to wineries or the mountains in Alsace...
About an hour by train, Mulhouse has some interesting museums.
