HELP REQUESTED FROM THE MANILLA EXPERTS:)

First time in Philippines for wife and self.

We will be spending 3 nights in Manilla (folowed by 13 nights on the islands) as wife wants to do cheap shopping of designer clothes, shoes, bags, overruns and rejects (not fakes).

Travel agent has given us a choice of Royal Orchid Suites Malate opposite Harrison Mall OR Elan Modern Hotel opposite the Greenhills Mall.

Both hotels are in same class so which one should i confirm based on area and malls nearby for good cheap shopping and eating.Love Pork, Pizzas and Steaks.Tacos.

Please also advise any dont miss eating and shopping places in either of the 2 places which you recommend.
Many many thanks

Never found shopping cheap in Manila for genuine gear, often cheaper in the UK.

This may help: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/philippines/manila/shopping/shopping-centre

Sounds like Ayala Center is the one for you.

I know you have this thing about staying close to a mall, I myself would find a nice place to stay and take taxis to the malls. Harrison mall is a dump as I remember the area around it as well. Don't believe I would be interested in staying around there. Greenhills area would be more pleasant but not sure if its a very interesting area to stay, I have no idea in terms of deals at the malls. If it was me I would stay in a place close to Robinson mall in Malate. That give you a interesting area to stay and a mall though not a big one. You could make a list of other malls to investigate and taxi to them from there

I read the no fakes part. Don't believe they're not. Good fakes in Greenhills shopping centre. Some second hand pieces in there too but mostly rundown.

Greenbelt at Makati for you folks if buying signature items. Greenhills is best choice for bargain and mix off authentic apparels, but known also as the metro hub for mobile phones. Mall of Asia which is nearby the airport-too huge to miss for shopping & dining, but quite far from Greenhills. Meanwhile SM Megamall i Ortigas is one place you can go to see a little bit of a culture shopping of Filipinos. But be aware of the traffic jam, around the greenhills area during after school hours.
