Bangkok to Koh Phangan??

Hey all,

Could you advise the best way to get to Koh phangan from Bangkok by bus? Flying is not cheap so not an option.
Train doesn't seem that easy access( unless someone knows how to go about them). Iv read up that there are two buses running- one is lomprayah and the other is by songserm.

Iv heard songserm is not safe. It would be great if someone could tell me if there are any other buses, which bus would be the one to take and from where and timings if possible. Also, which ones are the govt run buses?

Thank you -
S

Take the train. It's easy and much more comfortable than a bus. They're very accessible. Explanation about how to book them is at The Man in Seat 61. http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm#.UL0K8-Tqkig

agree with #1, but wondering why you make some many different posts about KP and the FMP, you need to focus :)

I've used Songserm buses but going from Koh Samui and it was perfectly fine.

Your answer is in your question :) Two bus companies - Songserm and Lomprayah, so take Lomprayah! I always do and it's great. You can book on their website (google "lomprayah ferry") or just go to any travel agency in Bangkok and they will sort you out. The website has all the costs and times.

Both companies are fine.
If you feel not safe for Songserm , then take just Lomprayah.
or take train instead.

Thanks guys. Are either of these govt run or are those separate. The one you get from the Southern bus station?
