Cycling Paso Agua Negra (4,775m) CHILE to ARGENTINA
Hello all!This is Corinne and Joseba cycling around the world since 2009. Currently cycling south the Americas.
We have recently crossed Paso Agua Negra (4,775m) from Chile to Argentina that has just opened on the 22nd Nov.

Nice little blog you have there! I will read it in a minute! How long did it take for the South American part (I should say will it take). I might be interested in doing a bike tour there.2

Did you believe that altitude? Did you have a GPS to assess it?I've been over it and my guess is it is overstated. About 4600 would be my guess. Very pretty, though, why the Chiletur guidebook (or whatever it is now called) rates it only 3/5 is a mystery.

The spiky snow things are called penitentes, because some people think they look a bit like monks. See any parrots? I've seen them on both that pass, around about 2000-2500m on the Arg side, and near Puente del Inca on Libertadores.I see that your GPS measured 4771m, so perhaps I'm wrong in my impression that this one is as exaggerated as some others.
