Buying a camper van in MoroccoHi All,
We are a couple with a year old baby hoping to spend a few weeks travelling around Morocco in the New Year. A lot of previous posts are pretty old so would appreciate anyone's up-to-date info.
We realise that buying or bringing in a camper from Europe is impractical/impossible, so we are hoping that someone can point us at a camper van hire operation in Morocco itself where we may be able to hire a vehicle for a few weeks - without it costing us a fortune of course!
Preferably the hire place will be in the north (we will be crossing in our own car, having bought insurance at the port), but we can travel south if need be.
Hoping someone can help :)

1Bringing a camper from Europe is far from impractical/impossible, people do it all the time and most insurance companies will cover Morocco at no/nominal extra cost. I can't see a camper hire company operating in Morocco.

2Your thread title says "buying," but your post says "hire." Which will it be?
As Wilco points out, bringing a camper over from Spain is no big deal--as easy as bringing your car, although slightly more expensive. You'll see herds of European campers on the roads, along with flocks of motorbikers and the occasional overland-equipped Defenders, Land Cruisers, Unimogs, etc.
Some insurance covers Morocco: mine didn't, so I purchased by the month at the border.

3Thanks for the response, Dave
We dont actually own a camper van and so by impractical/impossible I meant (as we've already made it to Spain) the probable need to purchase, insure and then rush sell a campervan once back in Spain.
Previous older posts said you cant take rented campervans into Morocco from Spain, so renting in Spain doesnt appear an option.
Appreciate you dont see any Moroccan rental outfits, but anyone else out there with some other info - either about the existence of Moroccan campervan rental outfits or new possibilities of taking a rental one from Spain into Morocco?

4There's no law preventing anyone taking a motorhome from Spain to Morocco, just the concerns of the owners over the logistics of getting it back should some problem occur and you dump it there.
I tried a quick google using 'location camping car maroc' (French for 'hire motorhome morocco') and didn't find anything interesting. Not suprising--most foreigners would have their own motorhome, poor Moroccans can't afford one, rich Moroccans would prefer hotels.
Hotels are so inexpensive in Morocco it would be cheaper and easier just to hire a normal car when you get there.
