Mt. Popa Guesthouses

Has anyone stayed at any of the guesthouses in the Mt. Popa area? Lonely Planet says there are a couple but does not discuss them at all, only the resort. Just wondering what they are like and if any contact info.

That is the big, expensive resort. I was wondering about smaller guesthouses nearby.

I would like to Suggest for you to stay in Bagan because you can go to Mt.Popa day trip by private taxi. I think that it is better off to stay in Bagan and visit to Mt.Popa.

yepper, i stayed at the cheap one just past the mt. popo police station.
i think it was called Nyaung-Thai (or something like that). better rooms
are $35-50. cheap rooms are $20....broken furniture, broken windows,
broken taps, broken toilet, no hot water. the restaurant at the guesthouse
is exceptionally mediocre.
.
from this guesthouse, it's a 2-mile hike to the stairway.
