Traveling from Varna Airport to Silistra?

Hey everyone,

In 3 days I'll be landing in Varna Bulgaria. I'm trying to find my way to Silistra Bulgaria. I've heard there is a bus running from Varna to Silistra at 15.00, but I've been unable to find any real information.

Would any of you kind folks be able to point me in the right direction? Also, I've heard that bus 409 from Varna airport will take me to the main bus station. Would any of you guys know about this?

Cheers,
ON

Hi,409 goes right past the bus station, ask the driver for 'AVTOGARA' and hopefully he will tell you where to get off,but it's on the other side of the road when you get off.Basically,it's about 15-20 minutes, sit on the left of the bus, look for Varna Towers,2 shiny brand new not too big towers together which is like a mall, then after another minute or so,another big mall on the same side, then you need to get up for your stop
Silistra buses are listed at 0930,10.00,1230,1330,1500,1700,1730,1800,going from SECTOR 5.They will most likely be small white mini vans.
Buy your ticket from one of the kiosks on your left as you walk through the main entrance of AVTOGARA in the forecourt before you go out onto the platforms.
Just make sure the 409 is going in the direction of 'CENTERER' when you are getting on,or it will take you out to the suburbs before it comes back in again, last time I was there there was no clear indication that inward and outward 409 buses had seperate stops.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting from Varna to Silistra. You'll probably have to get yourself to the central Varna bus station. As you probably realize, it's very difficult to get accurate transportation schedules online for Bulgaria (and many other countries in the region).

I never fully trust online schedules (they can be out of date, or just plain wrong), but according to this website there are nine buses per day:
http://www.autogaravn.com/bus-shedule/
(You need to search for the Cyrillic spelling on Silistra which is Силистра, and these departure times are listed: 9:30, 10, 12:30, 13:30, 14:35, 15:00, 17:00, 17:30, 18:00)

Again, I wouldn't count on those times being exact, but suffice it to say that you shouldn't have a problem getting to Silistra. Given those times, I'd probably just get myself to the bus station and make arrangements in person. If there is an English speaker at the bus station, maybe try asking which service is most direct/quickest, because there is probably some variation. For example, it appears that the 14:35 service has several stops, so might be better to wait for the 15:00 bus which appears to be direct.
