Maui to Lanai questions
My plan right now is to spend the night in Lahaina and then take the morning ferry to Lanai. I know Lanai doesn't have any traffic lights and all, but does anyone here know if there is a shuttle bus or bus to take me to Lanai City? I am thinking of going there just for a day trip.1
I recall there is a shuttle. However, if you are going to do any sightseeing at all, you will need to rent a car and it is expensive. You really can't get everywhere you want to see in a day by hiking.

The resort hotels have a shuttle bus which takes resort guests to the two hotels. If you just want to get a ride either to the resorts or to Lanai City, there is a fee for this . There is no "public transportation" per say in Lanai. Trilogy offers packages as well as Expeditions (the ferry) for tours of Lanai City so a car rental might not be necessary. Rebacca's also offers pick up at the ferry and several on or off road tours of Lanai City and the island of Lanai. The beach which has excellent snorkeling (Hulopoe) is about a 15 min walk from where the ferry comes in. The town of Lanai City is very small with sm shops, art galleries and a few local restaurants around Dole Square. -Sundays most stores are closed. from Nov.-March the Expeditions ferry you can usually see a lot of whales on the trip to and from Lanai.
