Grand American Adventure tour company any good?

Hi all,
I was thinking about booking a trip to the Grand Canyon with the company Grand American Adventure. I'm a 38 year old female and I want to know if it's geared towards the younger than 25 crowd. I don't mind being the oldest in a group but would prefer people closer to my own age. I would also like to know if anyone has had any experience with them. I want to do a good amount of hiking and not a lot of bus travel.

Thanks!

Welcome to the TT... If you drive, rent a car ! The Grand Canyon Rim areas are well presented and shuttle service transports visitors along the South rim...With your own transport you can stop at views that interest you and hike as well... I have never heard of this outfit... Do you represent them in any way ??? carracar

Nope, I don't represent them. I was just wondering about the tour group. I have some unplanned but welcomed time off from work next week so I wanted to take a mini vacation without having to plan anything out. I could do it alone but I really don't want to. Unless, there's anyone out there wanting to take a week long hike around the grand canyon?

thanks,
Joyce

As it's Winter(all be it a yet mild one) at the South Rim. Fly into Phoenix rent a car and make Northern Arizona the destination. There are numerous lower elevation, options for day hikes enroute... Happy trails...carracar

Thanks, I may just do that. If I can fill up a week with day hikes, that might be better!

If you can tear yourself away from Caracar, who is determined to tell you to do exactly what you've indicated you don't want to do....

I've seen groups like this, and what they're doing has never appealed to me. However, if you've got $2000 and a week to cruise around and take some walks, maybe you'll find one that works for you. In my experience, it's difficult for an avid hiker to find folks who really want to walk with any vigor--even the young ones tend to amble and meander a lot, with frequent breaks and limited objectives. I'd look for Sierra Club or similar trips if that doesn't sound like your style--outdoor activity clubs, rather than tour groups.

On the basis of a quick glance at the website of the company you listed, it might be tough to find trips that go at all during December. I'd call them and ask directly: how much walking time, how much driving, who's their clientele. In the end, they'll probably tell you whatever they think you want to hear, so caveat emptor.

Hope that's helpful, and good luck with your trip.
