Paris-Cayenne one way, then Georgetown (Guyana)-USA?

I'm a US citizen who will be in France in a few months. Rather than go back and forth the usual way, on my return journey I have a tentative plan to fly Paris-Cayenne one way with Air Caraibes, then cross overland from French Guiana through Suriname to Guyana, then fly back to the US from Georgetown, Guyana (GEO) with another airline.

Can anyone make an educated guess about whether I'm likely to have trouble boarding the plane in Paris if I can show I will leave from South America and return to the US not from French Guyana, but rather from a neighboring country, Guyana?

You should have no problem on the flight to Cayenne, since French Guiana is part of France; you should have no more problem than if you were boarding a flight to Bordeaux.

Right. You're not leaving France until you hit the Suriname border. On the other hand, you'll need a visa for Suriname: 100 euros cash, same-day service in Cayenne when I was there. Try to leave a couple of weeks for exploring the three Guianas along the way: they're different, and mostly less de-spoiled, than the rest of South America.

No problem at all, as said before flight to Guyana is domestic and Schengen Visa covers it. Funny, but true.

Guyana, Guiana: what's the difference, right?

A flight to or from Guyana is not domestic. Hope that's clear to the OP.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! Very reassuring. I knew about French Guyana's status as a French territory, but wondered if the physical separation might be an issue... one-way tickets seem to make some airlines nervous.

#4 Difference between spelling, totally arbitrary if you ask me. I mean French Guyana / Guiana of course!

In case it's useful for anyone... I did make it into F.G. fine, but they did ask first at the airport in Paris to see evidence of onward travel. So it wasn't treated as just a domestic flight.
