DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSTEL near San Juan Del Sur!
If you go to Playa Maderas, avoid Hostal Los Tres Hermanos at all costs! I stayed there last weekend, and one of the "hermanos" assaulted a guest. We were all very afraid. It just isn't a good or safe place. There is another place if you walk about ten minutes down the beach called Matilda's that is supposed to be fantastic.2
A man of the tough underground world such as you should be able to put two and two together cookie. These are gnarly ho-dads constantly amped by the heavies curling in off the Pacific. Life is kamikaze and any geek dweeb that trespasses on a bunny is mondo screwed. He had to go Quasimodo on the poser from El Norte. A quick glance at the posters history suggest it is a traveler through the region, but what kind of assault? A punch? A Kick? Fist fight? Knife? A weapon? Wood club? Machete? Loaf of bread? Beer Bottle? Fist full of sand? A Coconut? A cell phone?What the hell happened And why? Was drugs involved? Were people drinking? Was a woman involved? Was it a argument that got out of control?13
I cannot explain why, but I feel compelled to weigh in (please note that although I have been to NIC many times, I have no personal direct or indirect knowledge of any SDS hostel).......I'm gonna have to go with "a loaf of bread."It is my hope that any traveler new to the region will give this due consideration.
