And if Philippines which island is best ?
We are not looking for a secluded beach, it should have other activities too. I was reading about Boracay. But mostly people say that it is overcrowded and the beaches are not well maintained.
I need comments and suggestions. Also suggest good beach front resorts.

4January is normally fairly rainy and humid in Bali. But that doesnt mean dont go there, its a wonderful destination once you get outside the main tourist areas. Philippines will most likely be sunny with a few showers in January. Boracay is not one of my favourite places because too many people there, but it does have a fantastic beach. Alternatives to Boracay, might be Alona Beach on Bohol, lots to do there, or somewhere like Siquijor, some very nice beach resorts there, or El Nido in Palawan if you have the time to get there ..

5if we are taling honeymoon holiday,I think both boracay and bali fit the bill, both have incredible nice romantic resorts, but to be honest and living in Bali ,if u are a beachlover, january is not the bst month to come, that being said, this yr seems to be drier than recent years, its almost dec and hardly had any rain here, also I think there is more to do in Bali than in Boracay besides the beach but if its just for the beach...go Boracay and to be honest even with soo many tourists there, the beaches are far cleaner than in Bali esspecially in january when stormy, beaches in Bali can be a little nasty :)

6Thanks tombali.. what better activities you think there are except beach.
Also if we plan to visit Bali, which beach is best.. we prefer a nice beach front resort.. the beach should be clean.
I assume its not that difficult to drive around in Bali, can we rent a car / bike and explore?
Surfboy, i know Palawan has one of the best beaches... but heard its underdeveloped.. as i will be there for 5 days only hence i need beach activities + other activities too..

9in Bali are many opportunities besides beach(and to be honest the strong point of Bali its NOT its beaches, its the scenery, culture that makes this island unique,of all the indonesian islands besides java, its one of the least interesting for pure beaches,u better off in Boracay ,but if u like volcanoes, scenery, can go to ubud for few days, some really nice resortts there with incredible views, once u get out of the tourist south, its a great island to drive around and soak up the balinese culture....if u decide to go,pm me and will give u more details
about the beach,as told u that time of the year its very tricky, however if money is not an issue,u can get some really nice resorts on the Bukit peninsula with their own private beach and am sure they will clean it every day...am currently travelling in Egypt but will be backin Bali in 10 days so will give u a few nice resorts with good beaches....mainly on the bukit peninsula,u can google it and seewhat u find.

12What about geckos in Bali? I've heard they're quite common. I can't stand anything that looks like a lizard.
Plus, is there a season to Geckos? We're planning on travelling in January. Would we encounter any of these creatures?
