cost of taxi from bus station to airport guatemala city

Hey All,
I am flying out of Guatemala City this saturday and planning on taking an early morning pullman from Xela to guatemala city. Probably will be Alamo, or Linea Dorada. Can anyone give me a guesstimate on what a taxi from either of these stations will cost me to the airport? At around 8am.
Thanks!
Leila

Hello there Leila. I'd say that to be on safe side you'll be better off taking Alamo. And from their terminal in zone 7, near Roosevelt Blvd to the airport I'd say a white taxi should be no more than $10 because it's not that far from the airport. Because with the opening of the new North bus terminal in GC, bus lines with terminals in zone one, are being ordered to move their operations to the new terminal. So, in that case it's hard to say if Linea Dorada is still operating out of their own terminal in zone one, or if they went ahead and complied with the city order and moved to the new bus terminal, way up on the north side of town. And in that case a taxi ride would cost you more, maybe $15/20 with lots of traffic. Galgos is also a good bus line with service to GC. So, you should call the bus line and ask them where they're going to drop you off. If you have to take a taxi from zone one to the airport you can also expect to pay about $10. I hope you get the picture of what I'm trying to say. Good luck.

I have to agree with #2 but not totally. Because the same thing can happen on the way from Antigua to GC.And it gets more complicated to get to Antigua from Xela. You'd have to change buses in Chimaltenango and find yourself trying to flag down a chicken bus to Antigua. But it's true, nowadays all you read in local newspapers is about roadblocks, specially along the panamerican highway. People see that interrupting traffic is the most efective tactic for the government and the news media to pay attention to their protest. Buses including first class bus lines are also notorious in guatemla for breaking down along the route. So, to be on the safe side I'd travel to GC the day prior, spend the night at one of the B&B close to the airport or a good hotel downtown. You could have a good time along sixth avenue and visiting the central market. A large police presence makes it easy to walk around the area. Easily you could find a good place to stay for about $25 and have peace of mind. Unless you don't mind coughing up the extra hundreds of dollars missing your flight is going to cost you. Good luck.

Around Q50 - 60. Anything more consider yourself "taken advantage of."ยจ.
Your best bet is with one of those yellow ones as they seem to have better quality control.

#3 they could take a shuttle from Xela to Antigua, no need to switch busses, for about $10, then relax and enjoy the town and head to GC next day...

Hey - I took ADN 6am, which I knew was a bad idea but still made my flight even with two accidents on route! BTW last time I used Linea Dorada it was still in Zona 1 ( was November 10th or so 2012). Taxi was 60q. Probably should have been 50q but whatever. Id like to mention to SoloHobo that a shuttle is 20 dollars, not ten unfortunately. I consider the easiest way from Xela to Antigua taking whichever pullman to Guate, then hopping off in Chimaltenango and catching a Chicken bus to Antigua. The drivers are used to it and know just where to drop you.

i do that also done that very frequently when traveling from the lake to antigua, bus to chimi and change buses to antigua, that way you aren't tied up waiting for the certain times that shuttles run. maybe a little to adventurous for some but it works very well.
