I don't know.I once read somewhere that Taiwan's Jinmen island is some sort of windsurfing mecca, but well I can't hang my hat on that.
I know for a fact they "do" bungee jumping rock climbing and other extreme sports in Taiwan and I sense that the relevant sporting community is pretty large compared to other countries including the US.

If, by "regional breweries", you mean beer, prepare to be disappointed. Taiwan's beer market is dominated by the government-operated Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation, and their mass-produced brew, the imaginatively-named Taiwan Beer, is pretty mediocre. The Taiwan Beer Factory in Wuri, outside Taichung, does offer tours. There are a handful of brew pubs selling craft beer in Taipei and Taichung (and probably some other cities), but for the most part Taiwan is not a country for beer lovers. If you're looking to sample other kinds of alcohol, the situation is somewhat better. The most famous winery in Taiwan is probably the Puli Winery, located in Puli, a town in the exact geographical center of the island. The offshore island of Kinmen is noted for its Kaoliang sorghum wine. This website has information on some other wineries/distilleries that offer tours.
