Indonesia / Malaysia in January
Hi All,My wife and I are planning a trip from Taipei to SE Asia for 10 days in mid-January, and were wondering if we could get some advice on where to go (and where not to go) during the wet season.
Our original plan was to go to Borneo, hike Kinabalu and then spend time scuba diving / beach sitting in the area, but I'm worried the weather will make that trip not a lot of fun. My understanding is that the weather is better on the west side of the Malaysian peninsula and Sumatra, but I'd love other suggestions or descriptions of cool places to go.
Our ideal would be to go someplace adventurous and beautiful, where we have a chance to be both active and relaxed.
Thanks for any help!

I sort of have a plan:Days 1,2,3 in Singapore
4,5 in KL
6 in Jakarta
7,8,9 in Bangkok(it will be very hot though)
10 HCMC(flights frm HCMC(Ho CHih Minh City)to Taipei is very cheap)
Exciting tour sights:
Singapore: Marina Barrage, Marina Bay Sands, Universal Studios(in sentosa), Sentosa Island,
trek in Pulau Ubin, shopping in orchard road and the Singapore Flyer.
KL: Twin Towers, Batu caves adventure, Chinatown, Central Market(much like Taipei's yeshi)and Berjaya Square.
Jakarta:Seaworld, National Museum, Atmosfear, Royal Golf Club, lots of shopping and negara zoo.
Bangkok: Grand Palace, Wat Phrya, Floating Market, the temples, Chao Phraya River(relaxation by the river)and Khao San Rd, also like taipei's yeshi but thai orientated.
HCMC: War museum, vietnamese white coffee and presidential museum office.
Hope this helps! Have a great trip:)

For flights:Singapore to KL is very easy,
from KL to Jakarta i recommend Malaysia Airlines(airasia if on budget)
Jakarta to Bangkok i recommend Garuda Indonesia(airasia indonesia if on budget)
Bangkok-HCMC i recommend Vietnam Airlines(Thai if on budget even though it is national carrier, it is cheaper than vietnam)
and HCMC to Taipei u decide...(CHina or EVA)(or vietnam airlines)

The weather will be tropical except for some places:Singapore:Occasiona; Monsoons, not that much though(if sunny 25-31C if rains 22-28C)50% chance of monsoon)
KL: Rather little monsoons(45%chance)Weather: if sunny 24-30C if rains 20-27C
Jakarta: Very little monsoons(25%chance) weather: if sunny 25-31C if rains 221-29C
Bangkok: Tropical monsoons(60% chance)weather:if sunny 29-35C if rains 26-32C
HCMC: Little. If China has monsoons then HCMC will have it. Weather if sunny: 20-29C If rains: 18-25C.
